Citygarden is located in downtown St. Louis, a thin strip of green a block wide stretching west from the Old Courthouse and Kiener Plaza. There’s lots to see in Citygarden. Sidewalks along the outside of the park are lined with trees and flowers. Venture inside the park and you’re met with even more plant life, with downtown’s buildings peeking over the tree tops, making you feel like you’re in a small, enclosed oasis within the bustling city. From the right spot within the park, you can even spot the curve of the Gateway Arch.

There is a lot more to Citygarden than just plant life, however. The park is filled with a plethora of contemporary sculptures, some small, some filling large areas of the park. There are also small plazas with water fountains, some of which can be used as a way to help summer visitors cool off in the midwestern heat. Other water features are for aesthetics rather than interaction, but these are calming and relaxing.

If your visit has left you a bit hungry or thirsty, Kaldi’s has a small cafe in the northeast corner of the park, allowing visitors to grab a coffee or muffin. If you like you can enjoy your drink or snack while walking around the park, or you can enjoy the view from inside the cafe, which has walls of glass to make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

While Citygarden is lovely, you can add to your visit by walking further east to the connected Kiener Plaza and Gateway Arch National Park, or by going west to more park areas and nearby attractions, such as the Soldiers Memorial, St. Louis Public Library, and Stifel Theater.
