STL Restaurant Week – Day 2
Located in the Lafayette Square neighborhood along the small restaurant district on Chouteau is the Planter’s House. The restaurant is located on the corner in a three-story brick and stone facing building, with an adorable ornately-designed green and red entryway. Inside the room is dimly lit with red damask walls and hardwood floors throughout. The back wall is centered around the bar, while the front of the room has plush red booths and wooden tables. The best part of Planter’s House is the large outdoor patio. There is a small portion located under a cute brick structure that looks to be a former carriage house, while the rest of the tables are located under tall expansive trees. The whole patio is encircled with large garden boxes that hold the herbs used for the restaurant and bar.
We visited with family for a birthday celebration and were able to sit outside and enjoy the lovely patio. When we visited we started off with cocktails, which were each delicious and beautifully made. We also tried their signature drink “In A Pickle”, which was fun and refreshing. To order we had the seared rainbow trout, a seasonal salad, and the house fries. Everything was tasty, well-made, and artfully prepared. We finished with dessert, which was just as delightful as the rest of the dining experience. Everyone in our party enjoyed the Planter’s House for the setting, cocktails, and delicious food, making for a great dining experience.
