A favorite dish in our family is paprikahendl, which is a classic Austrian dish. The dish translates to paprika chicken and is a fairly easy and hearty main dish. Other versions often include a gravy; however, we never made a gravy for it growing up and just utilize lemon.
Ingredients:
6-8 pieces of chicken
Paprika
4 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil
1/2 cup of flour
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lemon
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Begin by coating the chicken in paprika. Next, melt the butter or use olive oil and place in a bowl. Then dip the chicken into the butter or olive oil to evenly coat the chicken. Afterwards place flour into a separate bowl and evenly coat the chicken. Next place chicken on a sheet pan and sprinkle paprika on the chicken, as well as salt and pepper if desired to taste. Finally, squeeze a little fresh ct lemon over eat chicken. Place in the oven for an hour. Afterwards, you can squeeze a little more lemon on top and add a little garnish, such as parsley or chives.
