The Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, is centered in the museum district of Vienna in the Maria-Theresien Platz right along the Ringstraße. Kunsthistorische translates to art history, and, as the name suggests, the museum is an art museum. The museum is located in a beautiful multi-story building with a large dome at the dome. Inside the architecture is just as incredible as the art itself, ensuring that the museum serves just as much as a piece of art. The floors, walls, and the ceilings are each intricately designed, with a another beautiful design in each room. There are several rooms that even features prominent artists, including Austrian native, Gustav Klimt.

Besides the awe-inspiring architecture, the museum is full of masterpieces, such as works by Jan Van Eyck, Rembrandt, or Peter Brueghel. During our visit we actually had the pleasure of watching an artist replicate Brueghel’s Tower of Babel. The museum is home to a couple of permanent collections including, coins, Egyptian art, Greek and Roman antiques, Ephesos, an imperial armoury, and a picture gallery, as well as other works. We visited the museum on a Friday evening, and were one of only a few people in the museum, making it easy to aimlessly wander about the museum in solitude. The Kunsthistorische Museum Wien is one of our absolute favorite art museums, and we would both agree one of the most beautiful buildings we have ever seen.
