Holiday Festivities – Day 5
We are ending with another one of our favorite holiday activities that is just outside of St. Louis in the metro area, the St. Charles Christmas Traditions. The event is a multi-day event beginning right after Thanksgiving and continuing through Christmas on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The St. Charles Christmas Traditions takes place along main street in the historic district of St. Charles, and transforms the entire street into a holiday celebration. Main street is full of historic brick buildings and decorated with holiday decor providing the perfect backdrop for a celebration centered around old Christmas traditions. The event comprises both large events, such as a tree lighting and a parade, but also smaller experiences where visitors can stroll up and down main street, popping into shops, grabbing some chestnuts roasted on an open-fire, listening to carolers, and interacting with different holiday characters. Along main street there is a variety of shops and restaurants for visitors to grab some Christmas presents and a bite to eat. Each year we enjoy walking up and own the street, seeing the decor, the period costumes, grabbing a bite to eat, and perhaps making a couple of purchases. The St. Charles Christmas Traditions is a lovely wa to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon.
