Viennese Cafes – Day 2
Located right off of the Stephansplatz and at the top of one of the U-Bahn exits is Cafe de l’Europe. We visited with family at the end of a trip where we just didn’t want to say goodbye yet and had one more kaffee und kuchen. The location is conveniently located for a quick meet-up in the center of the city. Since we visited when there was nice weather we opted to sit outside. The service was fast and helpful, the location right in the midst of downtown, and the food was delicious. We ordered the apfel strudel, which was fantastic, and some kaffee, which came prompt. Visitors can of course enjoy kaffee and kuchen, but also a variety of menu options.

At one point we ventured inside where there is north a cafe and restaurant. The decor has a slightly more modern twist, reflecting the decor of turn-of-the century Austrian designs of secession, such as Loos, Hoffmann, or Wagner. Although the cafe has less of a classic, relaxed feel, it also provides a nod toward a more modern-style coffee-house to enjoy coffee, cake, and company.
