Morgan Street Brewery is located in historic Laclede’s Landing, an area which was part of the original settlement of St. Louis and today sits just north of Gateway Arch National Park. The brewery occupies an old building formerly used by a machinery company and, as an old St. Louis building, featuring lots of brick, old tile-work, exposed wooden rafters, and other industrial elements. Much of the brewpub actually sits below the street level, creating a rather cozy ambience, along with the brick and plentiful amounts of wood in the chairs, tables, and bar. If you wish to enjoy the sunshine, however, there are also some tables outside the bar, allowing patrons to take in the other historic buildings in the district.

The brewpub features plenty of food and beer. In addition to some typical pub appetizers, there are salads, pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers, along with some mostly meat-centric entrees. We split a salad and pizza between the two of us and found both to be enjoyable and filling. The food was well-made and not too heavy, unlike some pub food. Others in our party enjoyed burgers, and they found them to be equally delicious.

Although it often gets overlooked, Morgan Street is one of the oldest breweries in St. Louis, beginning production in 1995. The brewpub features a number of their beers on tap, allowing visitors to try several or order various sizes of their favorites. As it was a rather warm day, we decided to get a pint of their pilsner, which was refreshing and enjoyable to drink. Many of their beers are brewed to style, with most being different types of lager.

Morgan Street Brewery is a fun place to get a bite to eat and a pint of beer, especially if you’re just wanting to have a nice, relaxing time hanging out with some friends. We especially recommend it after a day of exploring downtown attractions, such as the Gateway Arch or taking in a Cardinals baseball game.
