Summer Performances – Day 1
One of the best aspects of summertime in St. Louis has arrived, the St. Louis Municipal Opera Theater, or more commonly known as The Muny. The Muny is located within Forest Park and is the largest outdoor theater in the country seating 11,000 people. There are 1,500 free seats, which is more than most Broadway theaters, making it a great way for anyone to experience the Muny. The Muny is currently in its 101st season and features a wide assortment of musicals. This summer the Muny is putting on seven shows, each running for around a week, giving visitors over the past 101 years a wide variety of shows to enjoy. Certain shows, such as Meet Me in St. Louis and The Wizard of Oz have become favorites for the theater, but they also feature newer musicals such as Newsies, as well as old classics, such as Singin’ in the Rain. For those who enjoy musicals, the Muny is a great way to indulge in the theater all summer long, and for those who have never seen a musical, the Muny provides visitors with the opportunity to experience a show for free. The performances contain a wide variety of up and coming performers, as well as established performers from Broadway, ensuring a high quality performance with elaborate costumes, phenomenal dancing, and fantastic singing. The Muny continues to provide visitors with an incredible theater experience in a fantastic setting, making for a great evening of musical theater.
