If you’ve ever driven in the upper midwest, you may have seen advertisements along the interstate for Wall Drug and its free ice water. Situated in the town of Wall in South Dakota near Badlands National Park, Wall Drug is a large complex that serves as a kind of “one-stop-shop” for travelers, as well as a tourist destination. Visitors can wander the many shops at Wall Drug, finding such necessities as food, drink, and camping supplies, as well as less essential items, including any manner of knick knacks and tourist items. However, Wall Drug also hosts local artisans and their wares, so if you enjoy local art, be sure to look around.

In addition to the shops, there are also several places to grab a bite to eat. We ate at a cafeteria-style restaurant and had chicken tenders with fries. We had an enjoyable time just relaxing after a long day exploring the Badlands, sitting in a booth with our meal.

Wall Drug is a fun place to stop off while you’re traveling through South Dakota. It offers lots to see as you meander the shops, a nice respite from the road.
