During Cortex Restaurant Week we had the pleasure of visiting Retreat Gastropub, located on the east of the Central West End. Retreat Gastropub is located on the corner of Laclede and Sarah inside a beautiful red brick building. Inside the decor reflects a rustic vibe with wood planks decorating the wall, concrete floors, metal chairs, wooden tables, and old lanterns hanging above the walkway. The room is in an L shape with wooden pews running along the walls and the bar in the center, but there is also a second room off to the side that we were seated in.  The bar is made of wood planks, a marble top mixed with exposed wood, and various sized exposed bulbs hanging above the bar top. Along the walls there are are various art pieces decorating the wall. There is a second smaller room that we were seated in that is an indoor/outdoor space that features exposed brick and a more quaint setting. Additionally, there is an outdoor patio space providing visitors with a variety of options for seating.

As the name suggests, Retreat Gastropub focuses on pub items artisanally done. Retreat has a brunch, lunch, dinner, and drinks menu providing visitors with a variety of options to choose from. Additionally, Retreat has a large assortment of vegetarian, and even vegan options. The dinner menu consists of various small plates, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and large plates focused primarily on fish.  When we visited we order a couple plates to share including the house salad, fries with various dips, and the fried chicken wings with the chili-honey glaze. Everything was flavorful, nicely presented, and well-made. Retreat is also known for their cocktail options, so along with our meals we had a caipirinha and the timber cocktail. Both cocktails were well-prepared and delicious. The timber in particular was very smooth and the flavors complimented one another nicely. We both were quite impressed with Retreat Gastropub and definitely recommend a visit to Retreat Gastropub for a fun, relaxing setting and a delightful meal.
