Olympia Kebob House and Taverna has been serving St. Louis for 35 years. Their website also boasts that they have been routinely voted to have the best gyro in St. Louis. We have visited Olympia on a couple occasions and have found each visit to be an enjoyable experience.

Olympia is located in an old house just south of Clayton and Forest Park. There are several rooms in the restaurant, some with plain white walls, others with wood paneling. Plain wooden tables, chairs, and booths fill the space. The only decorations are pictures on the walls. Overall, the restaurant is rather simple, matching Olympia’s description of “home-style Greek cooking.” However, Olympia boasts a large menu filled with Greek and American cuisine. There are a variety of gyro options, along with kebabs, souvlaki, and stuffed peppers, tomatoes, and grape leaves. There are also burgers, but with a Greek twist, such as those with feta cheese or lamb meat. If you would like something lighter, you can also choose from a wide-range of appetizers, from hummus and tzatziki, to chicken wings and toasted ravioli. Olympia also has a nice assortment of drink options to go along with your food, including wine and beer. To end your meal, try one of Olympia’s desserts, such as the baklava or galaktoboureko, a kind of custard pastry. We have tried several of Olympia’s offerings, including their hummus and a variety of their gyros. Each time our meal has been enjoyable, flavorful, and delicious.
