Prior to seeing the musical Carousel we visited The Distillery in Hell’s Kitchen near the theater district. The Distillery is in a classic New York brick walk-up building, and sits on the bottom floor with large windows. Visitors enter through a rounded brick doorway into a narrow room with a bar along one side and cafe tables and chairs on the other. The walls are exposed painted bricks with floor to ceiling beams, and the ceiling is decorated with tin tiles. The decor consists of a shelf near the ceiling that features a few farm-style items and paintings. The second room is continues to highlight exposed painted brick and paintings, but also has a booth that wraps around the entire room. When we visited we were seated in the back room at a cozy corner table.

The Distillery is known as a cocktail bar and when we visited we ordered both dinner and drinks before the show. The Distillery has a few of their own beers rotating on tap so we decided to try one, as well as order the Inginium cocktail. We both enjoyed our drinks, particularly the Pils. For dinner we ordered the arugula salad, which was delightful, and the burger, which was a standard, tasty burger. Afterwards, we ordered a delicious molten chocolate cake, with fresh whipped cream and blueberries, along with a raspberry drizzle. The meal and the setting at The Distillery provided a nice meal before heading to a show.
