During one of our visits to New York City we extended our drive to Erie, PA to visit Lake Erie. The port was about 20 minutes off of the highway, making for a slightly extended detour, but a fun little excursion. We drove to the Bicentennial Tower, an outlook post on Lake Erie. There are several platforms visitors can freely walk up to to view the lake; however, at certain times there is a high tower that visitors can pay a small fee to walk up to get expansive views of the lake and Erie, PA. The port also is also the entry point for a lake cruise ship, a few restaurants, and an art gallery, as well as a few charter boat companies.

When we visited the weather was overcast and windy. We walked up to the shorter platform, and both enjoyed being drenched by the waves. The port also provided some nice views of the lake. Since a storm was rolling in we only stopped for a short time, but Port Erie provided us with a nice way to stretch our legs, get some fresh air, and take in some views of Lake Erie.

Great post 😁
