Heavy Riff Brewing Company is located in the Clayton-Tamm neighborhood (known locally as Dogtown), just south of Forest Park. The brewery stands in a stand-alone brick building, now painted brown, with large windows in the front. Inside, visitors are greeted with a dark interior with rich woods and warm paint on the walls. As one might gather from the name, the brewery has a music vibe, as evident by the concert posters on the walls and the guitars hanging behind the bar. Even the tap handles are shaped like the tops of guitars.
The brewery has a restaurant with a small menu, featuring barbecue sandwiches. Heavy Riff also has a handful of appetizers and salads, some of which feature smoked meat. Of course, the brewery also has its own beer. Heavy Riff has 15 taps, most of which feature their own beer, although they sometimes have guest taps from other local breweries and cideries. Heavy Riff’s beers span a range of styles, including traditional beers such as pilsners, along with other beers that utilize adjunct ingredients and barrel-aging.
If you are in the area, Heavy Riff is a nice place to grab a beer and, if you’re hungry, a bite to eat as well.
