One of our recent detours was to Erie, Pennsylvania. While we were in Erie we stopped at Lavery Brewing Company for dinner and a flight of beer. Lavery Brewing is located only a little more than a mile from the Lake Erie coast in a non-assuming brick building. Visitors will enter into the brewing and bottling room and continue through a door to the small brewery and restaurant. The bar is located on one side and a long bench with tables along the other, with tables scattered throughout the middle. The colors and the lightning are muted with beer posters decorating the walls.

Lavery’s Brewing Company is fairly casual so visitors will go up and order at the bar and then their food will be brought them. When we visited we started with a flight of Lavery’s beers. The Rauch Lager Bier Smoked Lager and the Gold Leopard Saison Farmhouse Ale were both interesting beers, but all of the lighter beers we got were nice for a casual dinner accompaniment. For dinner we ordered the charred romaine salad and the pepperoni pizza. Both were quite tasty and paired well with the beer. We both enjoyed stopping in Erie, PA and at Lavery Brewing Company on our road trip.
