While on a visit back to New York we decided to take a scenic route. We stopped off at various places along the way and one of them was Whitebarrel Winery. The winery is located in Christiansburg, VA, which is south of Roanoke, as well as Blacksburg, where there is a second location. Both locations serve as a winery and a restaurant, with a focus on tapas. It is only a short distance from the highway, making Whitebarrel Winery a nice stopping point along the drive.

The tasting room is located on a hill and is a well-kept building that has vines serving as an overhang. There are outdoor tables for when the weather is nice, but since we visited during the winter, we opted for a tasting inside. Inside the decor is centered around rustic pieces of wood and industrial lighting. When we visited we participated in a wine tasting and were able to try a variety of wines. The regular tasting is $5.00 and the reserve tasting is $10.00. When we visited we did the regular tasting, along with paying individual for one of the reserve wines. Throughout the tasting the attendant was quite helpful and nice. We both enjoyed trying a variety of different wines from a region we were not as familiar with, and we would recommend if you are driving through or you live in the area to stop by.
