Thunder Island Brewing Company is located in the small town of Cascade Locks, east of Portland. The brewery has a lovely setting along the Columbia River, and they have a rather nice outdoor seating area that overlooks the scenic view. We visited on a particularly hot, sunny day, so we elected to sit inside to get out of the sun after a long hike. The interior of the brewery is rather small, with the brewing equipment providing a backdrop to the small seating area and bar. Thunder Island offers several of their beers on tap and tasting flights in order to maximize the number you are able to try. Most of these beers are brewed to style, although a few feature additional ingredients made locally. We enjoyed our tasting flight, despite the sweltering weather. Thunder Island also offers a small food menu if you would like a bite to eat with your beer. Overall, Thunder Island provides a fun, relaxing way to spend an afternoon or evening if you are in the Cascade Locks area.
