Grimm Artisanal Ales has functioned as a ghost brewery for many years, as its founders brewed their own beer at the facilities of other breweries. Grimm’s bottles and cans were distributed throughout the New York City area, and those who wanted to try these beers, especially Grimm’s IPAs, had to either track the beers down as they were distributed or have them on tap at a bar. However, Grimm recently opened the doors to their own brewery in East Williamsburg, allowing people to try their beers whenever they would like.
The new brewery is located in an industrial building that has been transformed into a bright space with lots of light coming through the windows behind the bar, white paint on the walls, and lots of hanging lights throughout the space. Green plants behind the bar lend a bit of whimsy and fun to the brewery. The best part of the brewery, however, is the ability to try over fifteen of Grimm’s beers, from their excellent IPAs to their berliner weisses. Visitors are able to try small, medium, or large pours of Grimm’s beers, allowing you to try several beers or have more of your favorite. We’ve tried a variety of Grimm’s beers and have found each one to be worth trying, so just choose what sounds best to you. If you are visiting New York from out of town, however, we suggest trying some of their IPAs, which aren’t available outside of the city.
Grimm Artisanal Ales is one of the best breweries in New York City. Whether you live in the area or are visiting, we recommend stopping by the brewery and trying some of their good beer.
