Along the Pacific Crest Trail, also known simply as the PCT, is Dry Creek Falls. The falls are near Seattle, making for a great afternoon hike for both visitors and those who live in the area. The trail is a little under 4 1/2 miles, providing the perfect afternoon activity that doesn’t take the entire day, but also still provides a nice workout.

After crossing a few small roads, hikers began a gradual climb through a variety of landscapes. The the scenery changes quite a bit due to elevation changes, making for a nice hike. When you are getting near the falls you will suddenly be near the top of the mountain and have some incredible views of of the valley. You will pass a nice little creek with a foot bridge, that is a nice stopping point if you need it and as you get closer the sound of the water will be come louder. At the top, there were only a couple other people and we all pulled out our snacks, while we enjoyed the view.

Although the name is dry creek falls, we were greeted to a cascading waterfall. The waterfall is quite tall and lands in a small basin, before rushing over boulders. The mist coming off the waterfall helps to cool you down after the hike, as well as calm you. Afterwards, we headed back down and agreed it was the perfect hike. We visited while on vacation with family and all of us found the falls to be quite lovely and a great afternoon hike before heading to Thunder River Brewing.
