Located in Tribeca is a Laotian Restaurant – Khe Yo. We visited on a particularly hot day in New York after a walk in Rockefeller Park and found it to be a lovely reprieve from the heat, as well as a great opportunity to try Laotian cuisine in a nice setting. The inside is brick-lined, with wood floors, tray ceilings, and greenery dotted along the walls. There are two informal rooms, the first room is a bar with seats along it and a table tucked in the way window. The second room is fairly open to the first and has tables running along the outside with several in the middle as well. Additionally, there are a few tables outside for visitors. When we visited we sat in the backroom and were quite enchanted by the decor, which was both industrial, yet cozy.
We had never had Laotian cuisine so we decided to just split a couple dishes. The menu changes seasonally, so when we visited for lunch we had the lollipop chicken wings with a sweet chili glaze and the bell & evans lemongrass chicken bowl, as well as a delightful cocktail, the small batch Lao Lao. Both our food and our drink were delicious and we would love to go back! The service was quite good, the atmosphere nice, and the food was fantastic, making Khe Yo another greater eatery in Tribeca.
