During New York City’s Summer Restaurant Week (which is actually 3 weeks long) we were able to visit a couple restaurants that we have been hoping to go to. We started off NYC’s Summer Restaurant Week by heading to Midtown Manhattan and visiting Montebello Restaurant. The outside is rather non-assuming, and upon entering you are in a bar. The next room is carpeted, with circular tables, wooden chairs with cushioned seats, large glass mirrors to make the room appear bigger and brighter, and in-between the mirrors, there is art dotting the walls.

The cuisine is known for being from Trieste, and more of a Venetian-style. Since we visited during restaurant weekend, we had several courses and opted in for dessert. We both started with the bread and each had an appetizer. We had the house salad and the capricciosa, which was a home made fresh mozzarella with roasted bell peppers and tomatoes. Both were quite tasty and then we had the pollo Montebello, which was a parmesan encrusted breast of chicken in a white wine lemon sauce, and the ravioli di carne, which was ravioli stuffed with veal and spinach in an herb and veal sauce. We both found our entrees absolutely delightful! Although we were full we couldn’t pass on the desserts. The desserts are on a rickety cart and are each served in the pan they were made in; however, we had a feeling that showed promise, and we were right! Since we were so full, we shared the tiramisu, which was incredible. Overall, we both thoroughly enjoyed Montebello restaurant, the service, atmosphere, and cuisine were each delightful.
