Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn is known for its historical cuisine, such as Sahadi’s and Damascus Bakery, but the thoroughfare also offers one of the better burgers we’ve had in New York. At two8two Bar & Burger the restaurant concentrates on only a few things, but they do them all well. The bar focuses on hot dogs and, of course, burgers, with only a few other pub-style menu items. Prices are reasonable here, even cheap by New York standards, although be sure to note that you must get your fries, or another side, separately. We decided to get a burger and order the standard cheeseburger, but there are plenty of other burgers with different ingredients, as well as the option to add your own toppings. Our burger was delicious, and two8two had very good fries–both were well-worth the price.
As the name indicates, two8two also has a large selection of drinks, including several beer taps, some wine selections, and liquor. However, the restaurant emphasizes its house-made specialty cocktails, which offer quite a bit of variety, so it’s easy to find something to suit your fancy. The restaurant itself is plainly decorated, but warm, with bright colors and eye-catching posters on the wall. Overall, two8two feels rather like a pub, but a bit more artisanal in its drink menu, its ingredients and food, and its atmosphere.
