The FIT Museum is located in Chelsea and provides visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the history and development of fashion in the United States. The museum is located within the Fashion Institute of Technology campus. Upon entering there is a large open lobby with a short film on the visiting exhibit. We visited when we had family in town visiting and we all sat and enjoyed the film to prepare us for the exhibit. Next we headed downstairs to view the exhibit, which at the time was Norman Norell, and it was fantastic. Norell’s work is exquisite and the opportunity to expansively look at his work was incredible. Afterwards, we headed upstairs to the exhibit on fashion and physique, which helped to show the broader implications of fashion. We spent a little over an hour at the museum and all felt like we saw everything, making it a great museum for fashion lovers who want a nice afternoon activity.
