We visited Strong Rope Brewery, a small craft brewing company in Gowanus, on a cold and snowy day. We were one of only a few patrons of the brewery, but we found it the perfect way to spend such a wintry afternoon. The brewery is located in an unassuming industrial brick building with an interior that retains some of that character–white painted brick, stained wood, and an industrial vibe are all a part of the tasting room. As some of the decorations indicate, Strong Rope sources all of its ingredients from local farms and businesses, making the brewery truly a New York one. They feature several of the beers on tap, most of which are brewed to style and which highlight more English-style beers, such as cream ales, brown ales, stouts, and IPAs. We were able to try several of their beers in our tasting flight, finding them all to be well-crafted and enjoyable to drink. Whether it’s cold and snowy or bright and sunny, Strong Rope is a great way to spend an afternoon in Brooklyn.
