When we are traveling we always try to stop off and explore along the way. On our way to Glacier National Park, one of the fun adventures we had, was to the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. Driving to national parks such as Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park, is often through rather rural areas that are beautiful, but do not provide many stopping points, so the Corn Palace provides a fun break in the long drive that is not too far off the highway. The Corn Palace is multi-purpose facility that is decorated in corn, creating unique and interesting artwork. Each year the corn is remade into different images and designs making it a continual stopping point. Additionally, the Corn Palace provides tours to visitors, free of charge, allowing visitors to learn more about the unique venue spot and the area itself, while also getting a break from the long drive. Finally, if you have time, you can alway check out if they have an event going on when you are visiting. It has become a bit of a tourist stopping point so there are a variety of amenities for those who need to grab a bite to eat and stretch their legs while taking in a fun little attraction. We both enjoyed taking a break from the drive, exploring a cute town, and seeing the ever-changing and unique Corn Palace.
