The Whitney Museum of American Art is one of New York City’s more well-known art museums and provides visitors with the opportunity to take in both art and incredible city views. The museum is located in Chelsea along the waterfront and has several outdoor decks that provide expansive views of the city. The majority of New York art museums contains modern artwork, but they each have a different array of well-known pieces, as well as some interesting architecture.

The Whitney Museum, is known for showcasing Americans artists from the 20th to the 21st century. There is a permanent collection that is quite good, as well as new exhibitions continually rotating so each time you can experience some new artwork. We visited on a Friday evening with friends during the pay what you wish and spent a couple hours roaming about the museum, which provided us ample time to see the museum. The line to get in was a bit long, but moved quickly. Overall, the Whitney Museum of American Art provided us with the opportunity the learn more about American art, while also taking in some incredible views of Manhattan.
