During our vacation this past summer we were able to try a few new beers and breweries that we aren’t able to get in other places of the country. When we stayed in Missoula we tried Tamarack Brewing Company, which has both a plethora of beer and an extensive menu.

Tamarack is located in a modern building, but contains rustic wood and brick elements, along with warm colors, to add a bit of an outdoorsy ambiance to the brewpub, perfect for its location in downtown Missoula. Tamarack’s menu features standard pub food, such as burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and other entrees and appetizers. They also have soups and salads for those who want something a little less heavy. Since we had been on the go for so long, we decided to get the buffalo chicken strips and the big sky burger, both of which were hearty and came with a large helping of fries. We probably ate too much, but we enjoyed our meal and thought it was the perfect way to conclude our adventures in Montana.

Before and during our meal we enjoyed a tasting flight with several of Tamarack’s beers. The flight featured a mixture of their standard line-up and some seasonal and specialty beers, all of which were well-made and enjoyable to drink. They also paired well with our meal.

Tamarack Brewing is just the sort of place we like to frequent–a brewpub with good pub food and good beer that’s fun and friendly. Tamarack’s location in downtown Missoula (there is also a location in Lakeside) next to a quaint strip of stores makes it a perfect place to go for a relaxing evening out.
