One of the parts that we love best about New York City is the art scene. We both enjoying going to museums, the opera, musicals, orchestras, etc., and NYC has a plethora of options. The Metropolitan Opera, also known simply as the Met, is located in the Lincoln Center of the Performing Arts in the Upper West Side. The Lincoln Center has unique architecture that is similar to downtown Albany, NY, making for a great visit for those who are interested in the architecture of New York City. The inside of the Met is quite grand as well, providing an opulent setting for an evening at the opera.

Near the Lincoln Center is a host of bars and restaurants providing a great setting or a nice night out. Almost every night of the week the Met has different opera performances providing a variety of styles for visitors. Attire to the opera ranges from casual to full-length gowns, so we have used it as an opportunity to dress up, but you don’t need to. We have visited a couple times, with different style operas, and have enjoyed each of our visits to experience some exquisite opera in a fantastic building.
