Ukrainian East Village is a Ukrainian restaurant located in the East Village as the name suggests. The restaurant is only marked by an awning over a doorway. Once visitors enter they will walk down a long hallway to another door and a window with the neon Ukrainian East Village sign. The restaurant is tucked deep inside the building so the only window is the one looking out to the hallway. The decor is simple, and has almost a farmhouse feel with wood floors, paneling, and beams across the ceiling. The decor is simple with pictures of the Ukrainian countryside, decorated plates along the overhead beams, fresh flowers on the tables, and hand embroidered cloths on the tables as well.

The menu is quite large and provides a great array of classic Ukrainian options. Margaret had a platter of varenyky, also known as pierogi, but fried and boiled which as absolutely phenomenal! Micah had the Ukrainian combination platter that included stuffed cabbage, varenyky, kovbasa (kielbasa), kasha varnishkes, and a small salad, that was equally as delicious and provided a great opportunity to try a variety of Ukrainian cuisine. The food was fantastic and the service just as good. We both thoroughly enjoyed the Ukrainian East Village and encourage anyone who enjoys Ukrainian food or bring new cuisines to definitely visit Ukrainian East Village.
