Our favorite Thai restaurant in NYC and perhaps the best local eatery in our neighborhood is Lantern Thai on Montague Street. The owners of Lantern have several of Thai restaurants and two called Lantern, one in Brooklyn Heights and one in Manhattan. We have only ever visited the Brooklyn Heights location, but it has become a staple in our week. Typically, once a week we get take out and enjoy some terrific Pad Thai. The order is usually ready within ten minutes or less so we simply place the call, get ready to go out in the cold, and then can pick it up.

Besides take out, Lantern provides delivery, as well as the opportunity to dine in. We have dined in a couple times. The inside is an open room with wood features, a brick wall, and warm, intimate setting with dim lit lighting and candles. There is a bar along the left wall in the front and then tables tucked into the right side, with additional tables in the back of the room. During the warmer months, Lantern has seating outside, and the front windows of the restaurant are opened up, so even those sitting inside can get a little fresh air. Lantern has a fantastic lunch special that is $10 for the entree and includes an appetizer. The food as well is fantastic! As stated, we get the Pad Thai typically once a week, and it is delicious. We definitely recommend a visit to Lantern Thai and will continue to frequent it while we live in New York City.
Side Note: They also have a great variety of vegetarian options!
