Henry Street Ale House is located near Brooklyn Bridge Park along with a number of other restaurants. The exterior is quaint and gives a hint at the English-style interior you will find inside. As you walk in, you are greeted by a large bar made of dark wood, which is also used for the chairs and booths around the restaurant. The interior is dark, with tiled ceilings, but few lights. The dim lighting, however, adds a coziness to the bar, especially if you’ve just come in from the cold.
The restaurant serves a small but hearty menu featuring a variety of American and British pub food, such as burgers, mac and cheese, and fish and chips. We split a burger and found it to be satisfying to the point that we almost got another. As the name suggests, the ale house has plenty of beers on tap and offers something for everyone. Our service overall was good, and we enjoyed our time there. As it’s only a few blocks away, it seems as though it would be the perfect neighborhood bar.
