Tugaloo State Park is situated along the border between Georgia and South Carolina in the northeastern corner of Georgia. The park is on a piece of land that juts out into Lake Hartwell, which means that water activities are the primary feature of Tugaloo. Campsites are located all along the water’s edge, making any site a scenic one. Many visitors go to Tugaloo for the boating and fishing opportunities there, and there are many docks and boat ramps visitors can use. Visitors can also enjoy swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. For those who would rather stay on land, there are four miles of trails at Tugaloo, including the Muscadine Trail, which we hiked during our visit. The trail took us through swathes of forest and up and down hills, allowing us to get a sense for the flora that calls Tugaloo home. It was a short but enjoyable hike. In addition to the trails, there are also shelters, areas for sports, and miniature golfing, making Tugaloo a nice place for a weekend getaway.
