Our home usually has extra mozzarella, basil, and baguettes in the kitchen since we like to make French bread pizza, so we are constantly trying to incorporate them into new and different dishes.
Ingredients:
French Baguette (or whatever you choose)
Olive Oil
Garlic
Tomatoes
Mozzarella
Basil
We assume that there are similar recipes out there; however, this is just a write up our variation that we made in the kitchen one day. We try to make things as healthy (except for cheese, because that is our weakness) and simple as possible so our recipe is definitely no fuss. First take the bread of your choice and slice in half. Then drizzle olive oil over the inside part of the bread. Next sprinkle dried garlic on the bread to taste-for us the more, the better! Then lay fresh basil leaves on top of the bread. Cut tomatoes into thin slices and lay on top the basil leaves. Afterwards, lay slices of mozzarella on top. Place in your toaster oven, or if you are luckier than us-a real oven! We put it in the toaster oven for 8-10 minutes on 350 degrees. We find this to be quite tasty and really enjoy it! Our weekends usually start with a pizza night, so this is a fun variation we both look forward to.
Side Note: Italian seasoning or just oregano is a great addition as well!
