Each of the state parks we have visited have their own unique features, but James H. (Sloppy) Floyd State Park was one of our favorites. The park is located in Summerville, GA in the northwest corner of Georgia. It is right along the Alabama/Tennessee borders making it an ideal state park to blend with a Chattanooga trip, another Georgia state park such as  Cloudland Canyon State Park or New Echota State Park, or another national park such as Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Battlefield or  Little River Canyon National Preserve. The park is a bit off the beaten path, but provides a variety of recreational activities including hiking, birding, boating, fishing, kayaking, paddling, canoeing, camping, and picnicking, as well as cottages and playgrounds. We went on the marble mine trail, which led up to a beautiful waterfall outcrop. Below is a little pool that has formed, and visitors can actually walk around the pool and underneath the outcrop. There was no one else around, and it was so serene and beautiful. We both found the hike to this outcrop to be a perfect afternoon activity.
