The New York craft beer scene is booming, and there are plenty of places around the city to have good beer. One such locale is located in Williamsburg. The Well boasts a large tap list and an even larger bottle collection, featuring some hard-to-find and aged gems (expect to pay for those gems though). The bar is unassuming and has a large, dimly lit room with the bar on one side. If you go when the weather is nice, you can enjoy one of the other great parts about The Well-the massive backyard patio with plenty of seating, games, and an open-air feeling that’s hard to find in the city if you aren’t in a park. This was the first craft beer bar we had been to in New York, so we excitedly perused the tap list. There were more than fifty beers on tap, with a good number of them being local or regional selections. It was difficult to select just one, but we managed. Sort of, since we got a second beer later. Both of the beers were local Berliner Weisses, and both were impressive, setting the bar high for what New York City craft beer offers. While the beer was the star of The Well, the outdoor patio was an ideal setting for a lovely late summer evening, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The Well certainly met all the criteria of a great craft beer bar, and we will happily return.
