Hart Outdoor Recreation Area is located on Lake Hartwell, a more than 55,000 acre reservoir located on the eastern border of Georgia. As one might expect, the reservoir is the primary feature of this park, so the largest draws are the plethora of water sports and activities that one can engage in at Hart. Fishing and boating are popular activities, and the make-up of the soil makes for some interesting formations along the waterfront. There are ways to enjoy Hart out of the water, however. Hart has plenty of camping opportunities, as well as a couple short hikes that allow visitors to see the water and other natural features from the shore. Hart is a great place for those who love boating and fishing to explore the great outdoors.
